You’re eating the right amount. But are you eating the right foods?

Why staying within your calorie target and getting enough protein doesn’t automatically mean you’re eating a nutritious diet.

I have worked with women who are all totally different and have similar goals with different paths to achieve them. Physiologically we are all similar, so what we eat, how much we exercise, and rest can be extrapolated to all of us. It is the way we achieve the targets that can and should differ.

The Gap Between Looking Right and Feeling Right

One situation I want to explain today doesn’t refer to one specific client, but to most clients in general. A day looks exactly right within the “nutritional” frame of calories and macros, but when you look into the foods used, there’s a lack of variety (also compared with previous days) and a lack of nutrient-rich foods that contribute protein naturally, dietary fibre, good fats, and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.). So technically someone’s diet can look perfectly fine, when in reality it is actually missing its most important role: nutrition, which comes from variety and natural, real foods.

What Your Body Actually Needs

The thing is, it’s not only about how much we eat, but also what we eat, and how regularly we eat it, especially if we don’t have time, don’t like to cook and experiment, or have a rigid palate. Improving micronutrient intake and gut microbiome diversity are proven to lower disease risk: diabetes type-2, heart disease, cognitive issues. It supports your immune system and metabolism. All from eating unprocessed, natural foods, taking a little time to cook and just enjoy!

What Are You Betting On?

I believe it’s possible to live fully and independently until quite old, without depending on doctors and medicine. Starting as early as possible is best, and the earliest moment is today. I know things can happen anyway, and many diseases also affect people who’ve lived well, but what are you willing to bet on yourself?

DEBs WAY helps you improve your nutrition, movement and habits in a way that fits your life. For some it means starting just by adding one more vegetable to a certain meal, for others replacing granola with no-added-sugar muesli, and for most starting with strength training (20 minutes two times a week, while watching the news, easy as that). After I help you keep making small improvements that have significant impact, as you build your own healthy nutrition and exercise plan.
